    Deneysville, Vaal Dam

The tourism town of Deneysville is at the heart of the Vaal Dam, a suburb in the Free State on the shores of the very popular Vaal Dam. It is a hive of activity being almost mid-way along the 1200km-long Vaal River.

Deneysville is the centre of the Vaal Dam water catchment which in itself is a further 1 200km in circumference. This  just 100km from Johannesburg offering a wide array of attractions many of them water orientated.

With largely unpolluted waters the Vaal Dam is SA’s third-biggest dam. It is free of bilharzia and provides Gauteng with its drinking water. (Not to be confused with the lower Vaal River to which the waters of the Vaal Dam are routinely used to direct downstream to flush out pollution).

The Vaal Dam is home to dozens of yacht clubs and watersports centres, swimming and birding. And offering endless shorelines just an hour from Jhb., Deneysville is convenient, quite literally, just around the corner.

The Vaal Dam offers a number of activities for visitors from fishing, canoeing, boating and water skiing to relaxing on the waters edge enjoying the view and warmth of the sun. Deneysville is also nearby to a number of excellent golf courses which cater for all handicaps or even if you just want to hit a few practice balls while on holiday. Another lovely day out for the whole family, while in Deneysville, is the Deneys Crocodile Ranch where you will learn about the Nile Crocodile.
